Dr. Souza is a distinguished author and therapist. She brings 28 years of experience as a therapist and 16 of these years in behavioral health leadership. She has taught at several universities and trained new therapists. She earned her PhD from Oregon State University and her Master’s degree from the University of Nevada Reno. She has expertise in working with a variety of anxiety concerns, depression, and grief. She also works with alcohol addiction and substance abuse issues, communication issues, divorce and separation, family issues, LGBTQIA related issues, panic attacks & panic disorder, PTSD, relationship issues, social anxiety, and spirituality. Her approach is holistic with attention to the emotional self, the physical self, and the spiritual self. She is accepting, validating and encouraging. She engages with a solution focused, positively oriented work style. She is offering in person and telehealth appointments.
She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in three states. She has taught at several universities and trains new therapists as an approved clinical supervisor for interns. Dr. Souza enjoys traveling widely from Iceland to Ghana. She has extensive public speaking expertise in mental health at local, national, and international venues. She has educated and inspired hundreds of people, supporting them to resolve their depression, anxiety, trauma and more. The blend of her academic rigor and compassionate approach has earned her widespread respect among colleagues and clients alike.
